Moses Kiuna (L), 29, a self-taught innovator, demonstrates to a young student the operation of a bio-robotic prosthesis using nerve-signals created using salvaged electrical components, mechanical parts, plywood and rubber bits at the Jasiri Mugumo school in Nairobi on January 31, 2023. - Cousins Moses Kiuna, 29, and David Gathu, 30, created their first prosthetic arm in 2012, after their neighbour lost a limb to an industrial accident.
But their latest invention is a significant upgrade.
The device uses a headset receiver to pick up brain signals and convert them to an electric current, which is then sent to a transmitter that wirelessly relays commands to the arm, prompting it into action. (Photo by Tony KARUMBA / AFP)

Njoki, a Jasiri student, is seen working with a hand robot, demonstrating how technology can drive sustainability solutions.

Meanwhile, Baraka, another student, delivers a powerful argument on the role of children in combating climate change, proving that young minds can be the driving force behind environmental transformation.

Jasiri Mugumo: Nurturing Young Warriors for a Greener Africa

At Jasiri Mugumo, we believe in hands-on learning that inspires real-world solutions. That’s why we are excited to collaborate with Afro Genesis the groundbreaking innovators turning Nairobi’s plastic waste into durable, eco-friendly paving bricks.

Through this partnership, our students gain practical experience in sustainability and innovation, learning how recycled materials can be transformed into valuable resources. By working alongside David gathu and Moses kinyuas, Jasiri students are not just learning about sustainability—they are actively shaping a greener future.

What This Means for Our Students:
✅ Hands-on training in sustainable construction
✅ Exposure to real-world problem-solving
✅ Learning how innovation can drive environmental change
✅ Inspiring the next generation of green entrepreneurs

The Challenge

Standerdized Education 75%

Standardized education is outdated and has not met the needs of children in Africa by providing content that reflects exceptional African achievements and throughout history and their unparalleled potential. Standardized education is outdated as children learn far more effectively through experimentation and doing. Exponential innovation is changing the world, the nature of work, creating demand for new skills already in short supply. Education systems are entirely unprepared to ready children for the jobs of the future and understand the real world

The Solution

Develop a learning space that will catalyze the exponential potential of African children by creating immersive, culturally   stimulating, purpose driven learning to accelerate applied critical thinking and experiential problem-solving skills

At Jasiri we seek to boldly address, through learning, the challenges of our time.
